With millions of album/song streams to their credit on Spotify and YouTube, Turnerjoy was a Chicago-based band that had nominal success from the late 90s through the early aughts. Then, shortly after the recording and release of their critically acclaimed album, Transplant, the band broke up.
But that’s only where the story begins. After the release of Transplant and the breakup of the band, a cult following slowly and steadily began to emerge (thanks in no small part to the advent of social media) and caught fire after “Torturous” and other songs from the album were used in various commercials and then the UK series Skins. By then, the band had faded into obscurity, with nearly no online presence or information available. Until now.
